Recognition at the Tennis Scotland Awards for two East of Scotland players

Congratulations go to East of Scotland player Sarah McFadyen, who was awarded Senior Vetran Playr of the Year at the Tennis Scotland Awards 2023.

Sarah has had a fantastic year including being selected  for  the  GB 40 womens’  team playing in The Young Cup in Turkey in March, winning five  of her singles matches v  Switzerland, Canada, France, Latvia and Finland . She  helped the team to a brilliant 5th place in the process.

Other achievements include:

  • Winner of the British Open Masters Clay Court O40 doubles and runner up  in the singles
  • Semi Finalist in Tennis Scotland Open Tour National Doubles Championships
  • Whitecraigs Easter Open Doubles finalist
  • Winner Tayside Open singles and finalist in the doubles

Congratulations also to East of Scotland player Jacob Fearnley who was awarded Senior Player of the Year at the Awards. Jacob’s family have ha  a long association with Dalkeith Tennis Club and Jacob is currently training at Texas University in USA .

Winning various titles, he is ranked no 1 in Doubles  and no 8 in the ITA Collegiate Rankings in US.

Having received a wild card for the Men’s singles qualifying competition at Wimbledon he had an exceptionally close match  6-2, 6-7, 6-7 against the eventual qualifier.
